Today, Princess Marie takes part in the World Food Summit – Better Food for More People in Copenhagen as a Patron.
This is the second edition of the two-day Summit and the first with Marie as Patron. The summit is hosted by the Ministry of Environment and Food of Denmark. The ‘Better Food for More People’ movement was combined with the World Food Summit. Last year, Princess Marie only attended the reception.
According to the Dr. Esben Lunde Larsen, Danish Minister for Environment and Food : “Denmark has shown that great cuisine and sustainable food production and consumption are not mutually exclusive. In Denmark, experience has shown that increasing knowledge of food ingredients and cooking skills can reduce obesity, food related illnesses, food waste, and the environmental footprint that the food industry has on our globe.” According to the Ministry : ” The purpose of the summit is to unleash the full potential of gastronomy in order to create worldwide solid solutions that ensure better food for more people.”
As Patron this year, she will attended several events today included in the summit. In addition to the regular meetings and conferences, the Ministry added side events to the summit in order to show the relevance of providing better food for more people.
First of all, she opened the Summit and attended several meetings in Christianborg Castle, the House of Parliament where the summit takes place. (You can see the fashion info at the end of the post).
She then visited ‘Bite Copenhagen’. This new platform aims to “presents innovation and knowhow concerning global food challenges and creating new solutions”. 100 exhibitors showcase their products. Bite Copenhagen has a partnership with the Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival of which the Princess is Patron of. Princess Marie made the opening speech. She also opened WeFood’s stand. She is Patron of WeFood which is Denmark’s first surplus food supermarket.
At the end of afternoon, Princess Marie took part in the Embla Nordic Food Award ceremony at Copenhagen City Hall.

For this big day, Princess Marie wore a black or navy skirt suit (Giorgio Armani?) with a purple/bordeaux top. She wore old By Malene Birger first worn earlier this year and an old Giorgio Armani bag (similar to this model) first worn in 2011. She’s also wearing a Christine Hvelplund necklace.
For her visit to Bite Copenhagen and the EMBLA Nordic Food Awards ceremony, Princess Marie wore a old UFO black dress with an old UFO clutch. She wore the same By Malene Birger pumps as earlier today and her Christine Hvelplund earrings.
In order to bring more attention to the summit, she took over the Instagram account of Danish magazine Samvirke. You can see her posts on Instagram.
We’ll see Marie tonight at the reception at Copenhagen City Hall.
