Prince Joachim , Princess Marie and their children celebrate Legoland’s 50th anniversary

Today, Prince Joachim, Princess Marie and their children Prince Felix, Prince Henrik and Princess Athena were at the theme park Legoland in Billund to officially open the park’s new season.

Legoland was officially opened in 1968 so the park is celebrating its 50th anniversary all year. For this important anniversary, the park was transformed with new attractions, new colors and a lot of new LEGO models.

Prince Henrik and Princess Athena officially opened the park by pushing the button and they were clearly pleased to do so! Afterward, the family officially opened the Flying Eagle, a rollercoaster for children, and they took the first ride with Legoland’s director. They also had the opportunity to visit LEGOREDO Town.

Christian Woller, Legoland’s director, was clearly pleased with the royal visit: “It’s always exciting when we open a completely new rollercoaster, but it seems that the royal family enjoyed the trip, even though the temperature does not quite say spring yet. […]It has been a really good day, and the enthusiasm among our guests really emphasized how popular an area like LEGOREDO Town is.”

You can see two videos of the events below and more photos here.

We will next see Princess Marie on April 5, when she will visit the H.C Andersen Hospital and attend a research seminar on allergies.
