Princess Marie visits Folkekirkens Nødhjælps projects in Skive as Patron

As a patron of DanChurchAid, Princess Marie visited the organization’s activities in Skive on 30 April.

Princess Marie first visited company Nordic Food Partners, which produces organic rice for primarily Nordic retail chains. The company has initiated a new cooperation with DanChurchAid, where broken rice, which will otherwise be confiscated during production, is sold in Wefood, DanChurchAid’s stores with surplus goods: “Wefood sells goods that regular supermarkets can no longer sell due to overdue ‘best before’ dates, incorrect labels or damaged packaging. The products found in Wefood are still edible and safe to consume according to the Danish food legislation, but have simply lost their value to the partner donating them.”

About their collaboration with Nordic Food Partners, DCA said: “Every month, Nordic Food Partners discards several tons of organic rice, which inevitably gets a little cut in the rice grain in the process, where rice is upgraded from brown to polished white rice. The rice has 100% the same nutritional value, ecological status, taste and fragrance as whole rice. The only difference is that the smaller rice grains only need to boil for half the time.”During the visit, Princess Marie said: “It’s a great idea. Really. There is no difference!”

Afterward, Princess Marie visited the Skive Military Unit. The past 12 years DanChurchAid has trained participants from all over the world in an intensive course on locating and disposing deadly bombs and ammunition (Explosive Ordnance Disposal – EOD). Princess Marie had the opportunity to the many techniques and equipment used for clearing mines and other remnants of war.

She also had the opportunity to experience a detonation of a landmine at very close quarters. Princess Marie is very involved in DCA’s campaign against landmines. In April 2018, she released a video message supporting the campaign and earlier this month, she visited an exhibition about landmines in Varde. You can watch a video of the visit here.

Princess Marie wore a fully recycled outfit for these engagements. She wore her Ralph Lauren blazer that she first wore in 2017 paired with her Tara Jarmon white sleeveless blouse.

She wore Tod’s black ankle boots that also dates back to 2017 although I only managed to ID them yesterday. Her earrings are ufos from 2018. She also carried her old black YSL bag.
