The former French President died on Thursday at age 86 in Paris, France. From Friday to Sunday, French people could pay their respects by signing a guest book at the Elysée Palace or seeing his coffin laying in state at the Invalides.

Following a private ceremony for the family on Monday morning, a military ceremony led by President Macron took place at the Invalides. The coffin was then driven from the Invalides to the Saint-Sulpice church where the funeral service took place with plenty of foreign dignitaries in attendance. Since Prince Joachim and Princess Marie are currently living in France and Princess Marie is French-born, the couple represented Queen Margrethe at the service. They were welcomed by French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe at the church.

I do not want to focus too much on Marie’s outfit on such an occasion but she wore her usual Giorgio Armani jacket with a black dress or skirt, her Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ pumps, an old ufo clutch and a diamond brooch. It seems that both Marie and Joachim were wearing their Légion d’Honneur pins.
