2019 Year in Review: Princess Marie’s Fashion Highlights (New brands, Item of the Year, Brand of the Year + a preview of the wardrobe cost post!)

As part of our 2019 Year in Review series, let’s take a look at Princess Marie’s Fashion highlights this year. Read more below!

New Brands:

As Princess Marie worked fewer days this year than last year following the family’s move to France, she also wore fewer outfits and she debuted less pieces. But she did debut a few brands this year.

One of them is Christopher Kane. She wore a stunning dress from the brand on June 3rd and then again on October 8th.

The second brand is Ba&Sh, a French brand. She first wore one of their dresses in April with a belt from the brand. She wore the belt again on November 5th.

Princess Marie also debuted another French brand this year when she wore a Sandro top last August and debuted a belt from the brand earlier this month.

Finally, she wore a beautiful purple floral dress in Paris on March 28th from Velvet by Graham & Spencer, a brand she had never worn before.

Princess Marie thus repeated more than last year. As a reminder, here are the Recycled vs New numbers for 2018:

Item of the Year

I can’t really say I’m surprised at this year’s Item of the Year as it is the same as last year and back then, I said I was certain we’d see them again in 2019 and I couldn’t have been more right. Princess Marie wore her Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ pumps 19 times this year, the same amount as last year. She owns four pairs of the Romy pumps (in Black Suede, Nude Suede, Black Glitter and Navy Suede) and they have been her favorite pumps since 2017. She can match them with any outfit and thus I imagine we’ll continue seeing these classic pumps again in 2020.

Brands of the Year

Last year’s Brand of the Year was easily Michael Kors but this year I couldn’t point out a winner from memory. Despite wearing a lot of Hugo Boss and Maje in November and December, Jimmy Choo is the brand Marie wore the most this year which, in hindsight, shouldn’t really be a surprise. In addition to the ‘Romy’ pumps, Princess Marie also carried her Jimmy Choo metallic clutch several times this year.

If we only focus on clothes though, then Hugo Boss is Princess Marie’s Brand of the Year. Her favorite Hugo Boss item this year was her Kusima dress – which she wore for the first time in 2017- as she wore this dress twice this year. She also debuted two new Hugo Boss coats for Christmas.

Less Expensive New Item

This year’s less expensive new item is the Naledi Copenhagen scarf Princess Marie debuted last January which retailed for €67

Most Expensive New Item

Just like last year, Princess Marie’s most expensive new item this year is from Christine Hvelplund, her favorite jeweller. It is the stunning diamond flower ring she debuted for the concert in honor of Prince Henrik last February.
