First of all, new official photos! I wished the Danish Court had released photos for Prince Joachim and Princess Marie’s 10th wedding anniversary but they told me they wouldn’t. So it was a nice surprise when the Court released three new official photos of the couple for Prince Joachim’s 49th birthday on June 7th.

These photos were taken on January 1st, most likely after the New Year’s Gala Dinner. Princess Marie is wearing her Rikke Gudnitz gown and her wedding tiara and the Order of the Elephant. It appears she also wore the Star of the Légion d’Honneur.

On June 10th, Prince Joachim attended the Danish Air Show with his sons Prince Nikolai, Prince Félix and Prince Henrik. The Danish Air Show is held every year and took place this year at Flyvestation Aalborg.

Over 125,000 people were gathered for the Air Force event, where flights from home and abroad made formations and maneuvers in the air. The Princes had the opportunity to take a closer look at the F-16 aircraft.

Prince Joachim is a part of the defense as Colonel of the Reserve and Prince Nikolai start studying at the Sergent School in Varde this summer.

On June 11th, the day of Prince Henrik’s birthday ( he would have turned 84 on this day), the Court announced that Queen Margrethe had decided to award a commemorative medal to the members of the Royal Family, the court’s staff and all of those who have helped Prince Henrik during his disease and who helped the family after Prince Henrik’s death and for the organisation of the funeral. The private family members of Prince Henrik also received the medal. They also made announcements regarding the Prince Henrik’s Fund. You can read more about it in the post I wrote for Royal Central here.

On June 12th and 13th, Princess Marie was in Scotland with a delegation of the Danish Emergency Management Agency. Marie works with them since June 2017 as a Special Assistant in Project Development for Prevention. In her work for the Preparedness Board, Princess Marie participates in the design of a new field of action with specific tasks.

The aim of the Preparedness Board is to help the population be better prepared in case of an emergency. DEMA and Princess Marie met with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Team in order to learn more about their methods of preventive work and to share DEMA’s projects. A similar meeting took place last January in Denmark when Princess Marie and a DEMA’s delegation met with Dutch specialists.

There was no press access but the Court did share two photos of Princess Marie in Scotland. It seems like Princess Marie wore a new Goat coat. It is the ‘Redgrave’ coat in navy and it is also owned by the Duchess of Cambridge and Crown Princess Mary in different colors. I can’t be 100% sure but I think she’s also wearing her Christine Hvelplund earrings.

In the first photo, Princess Marie is wearing the white Tara Jarmon top she first wore for her Point de Vue interview and her Christine Hvelplund necklace.

Prince Joachim and Princess Marie host a reception for their patronages and collaborators at Schackenborg Castle

Today, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie hosted a reception for their patronages and collaborators at Schackenborg Castle.

Prince Joachim and Princess Marie are both Patrons of the Schackenborg Fond (which was created after the couple moved out of the castle) and they still can use the castle for private and public events. Representatives of both Joachim’s and Marie’s patronages were invited to the reception which was held in order to thank them for their work but also to allow them to meet each other and to discuss possible initiatives.

Prince Joachim and Princess Marie welcomed the invited guests on the steps of the castle before both making a small speech. Joachim is Patron of 41 organizations while Marie is Patron of 13 organizations.

Princess Marie said : “We think it was very appropriate that you all have the opportunity to greet each other […] We have a very close relationship with the place. This is where we got married and started our family”

In his speech, Prince Joachim then gave a small history of Schackenborg Castle before the guests were split into small teams to visit the castle, mingle and eat.

Bjorn Friis Neerfeldt who is the Secretary-General of Dansk Skoleidræt (of which Prince Joachim is Patron) said it was “a very nice meeting in historic surroundings”

For this event, Princess Marie wore a new pink dress. It is the ‘Glenda’ wrap dress from Goat, one of the Duchess of Cambridge’s favorite brand. It is the first time Princess Marie has worn this brand as far as I know.

I believe Marie decided to shorten the dress slightly as it appears longer on the model and is described as a midi dress on Goat’s website while it appears to be knee-length on Marie.

Marie wore pink LK Bennett ‘Sledge’ pumps. It is the first time she wears them publicly but they are past season. She accessorized with her Christine Hvelplund bracelet and the necklace created by Christine Hvelplund with Henrik’s and Athena’s initials. Her earrings are new but I haven’t seen good enough photos of them in order to identify them yet.

On January 4th, Princess Marie , as Patron of the Danish Emergency Management Agency and one of their special projects assistant, met with Dutch experts to learn about their initiatives to prevent fires and flooding and protect the population.

Since it was an unannounced event I don’t have any other details about the event. Marie wore her Isabel Marant jacket first worn in 2016.

Another important news for Princess Marie ! It was announced on January 3rd that Princess Marie had accepted to be an Honorary Member of the Association of the Dane of Horseshoe (Danish Galop) was founded in 1859 by Crown Prince , later King Christian IX. The tradition is that the Monarch is the Patron of the association. Queen Margrethe, Prince Henrik, Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary and Prince Joachim already were honorary members and the association said they were delighted and honored to welcome Princess Marie.

They also announced that Princess Marie will attend a day at the Danish Galop Flagships in the Spring.

Today, Princess Marie is making her first official visit to Washington D.C ! She met with Andrew Steeler , the President and CEO of the World Resources Institutes to talk about the fight against food waste and how Denmark was involved in it.

Since the meetings were private , we don’t have any official photos but I reached out to the World Resources Institute for more information and here is what they told me :

” Denmark is well-known as a global leader in the field of sustainable development. WRI is therefore delighted to have the opportunity to host a visit by Minister of Food and Environment Esben Lunde Larsen, HRH Princess Marie, and Lars Bo Møller, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Danish Embassy in Washington. The Danish delegation will meet with WRI President and CEO Andrew Steer and WRI’s senior leadership to exchange ideas on how to address urgent global issues at the nexus of development, environment and human well-being that are the focus of WRI’s work: food, forests, water, energy, cities and climate. In addition, the minister will share Danish perspectives on such sustainable development challenges in an address and Q&A session with WRI staff.

The Danish delegation and WRI leadership will also discuss progress in a new initiative, Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals (P4G), led by a group of countries that includes Denmark, Chile, Ethiopia, Kenya, Korea, Mexico and Vietnam, along with leaders from business and international organizations. Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Prime Minister of Denmark, and other government leaders launched P4G at the UN General Assembly in New York last September. It aims to foster innovative public-private partnerships to accelerate progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). WRI hosts the P4G secretariat.
The World Resources Institute is a global think-and-do tank with more than 700 experts and other staff, half in Washington and half in international offices in the big emerging markets of the developing world: Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, and Mexico. WRI also has regional hub offices for engagement in Europe (in The Hague) and Africa (in Addis Ababa). WRI follows a three-fold approach to solving urgent global problems: Count It (research and analysis to define problems and identify solutions); Change It (close engagement with governments, businesses and civil society partners to implement, test and adjust solutions) and Scale It (fostering innovative global coalitions to reach tipping points where new and better approaches become the new normal).
WRI collaborated with Denmark in the creation of the Food Loss and Waste Protocol, the global standard for measuring and reducing food loss and waste. The protocol is now being adopted by leading food companies and governments to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 12.3, which aims to cut food loss and waste by half by 2030. Currently about one quarter of the calories produced for human consumption are never eaten. Reducing food loss and waste can help to reduce the environmental footprint of food production and reduce global hunger. ” (NB: Selina Juul worked with the WRI on the Food Loss and Waste Protocol, she’s one of their Champions)

After the meetings, Princess Marie attended an official dinner at the Danish Embassy in Washington.

UPDATE: The Ministry of Food and Environment posted a photo of the Danish delegation !

The Minister Esben Lunde Larsen posted another one too! (Couldn’t help but notice that the lady next to Marie is wearing a Giorgio Armani jacket also owned by Marie!)

Princess Marie wore an UFO outfit first worn in November 2013 and what seems to be her favorite Sergio Rossi ankle boots first worn in 2016.

This visit ties nicely with an event Princess Marie will host on January 18th. She invited children to cook with her in her home at Klampenborg in order to teach them about food waste and how to avoid it. Princess Marie has worked closely with WeFood’s and Stop Spild af Mad’s founder Selina Juul over the years and I hear that great things are to come! You can learn more about Stop Spild af Mad here.

We’ll next see Princess Marie next Tuesday when she will visit Vejen Gymnasium to teach a French lesson with another teacher and next Thursday with the children in her home.

Again, very few photos , but I found Marie’s new top to be the ‘Myrna’ blouse by Baum und Pferdgarten. I can’t really tell which earrings Marie is wearing, but they might be new. Post will be updated if more photos are published.
