Let’s catch up on Prince Joachim and Princess Marie’s events!
First of all, new official photos! I wished the Danish Court had released photos for Prince Joachim and Princess Marie’s 10th wedding anniversary but they told me they wouldn’t. So it was a nice surprise when the Court released three new official photos of the couple for Prince Joachim’s 49th birthday on June 7th.
These photos were taken on January 1st, most likely after the New Year’s Gala Dinner. Princess Marie is wearing her Rikke Gudnitz gown and her wedding tiara and the Order of the Elephant. It appears she also wore the Star of the Légion d’Honneur.
On June 10th, Prince Joachim attended the Danish Air Show with his sons Prince Nikolai, Prince Félix and Prince Henrik. The Danish Air Show is held every year and took place this year at Flyvestation Aalborg.
Over 125,000 people were gathered for the Air Force event, where flights from home and abroad made formations and maneuvers in the air. The Princes had the opportunity to take a closer look at the F-16 aircraft.
Prince Joachim is a part of the defense as Colonel of the Reserve and Prince Nikolai start studying at the Sergent School in Varde this summer.
On June 11th, the day of Prince Henrik’s birthday ( he would have turned 84 on this day), the Court announced that Queen Margrethe had decided to award a commemorative medal to the members of the Royal Family, the court’s staff and all of those who have helped Prince Henrik during his disease and who helped the family after Prince Henrik’s death and for the organisation of the funeral. The private family members of Prince Henrik also received the medal. They also made announcements regarding the Prince Henrik’s Fund. You can read more about it in the post I wrote for Royal Central here.
On June 12th and 13th, Princess Marie was in Scotland with a delegation of the Danish Emergency Management Agency. Marie works with them since June 2017 as a Special Assistant in Project Development for Prevention. In her work for the Preparedness Board, Princess Marie participates in the design of a new field of action with specific tasks.
The aim of the Preparedness Board is to help the population be better prepared in case of an emergency. DEMA and Princess Marie met with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Team in order to learn more about their methods of preventive work and to share DEMA’s projects. A similar meeting took place last January in Denmark when Princess Marie and a DEMA’s delegation met with Dutch specialists.
There was no press access but the Court did share two photos of Princess Marie in Scotland. It seems like Princess Marie wore a new Goat coat. It is the ‘Redgrave’ coat in navy and it is also owned by the Duchess of Cambridge and Crown Princess Mary in different colors. I can’t be 100% sure but I think she’s also wearing her Christine Hvelplund earrings.
In the first photo, Princess Marie is wearing the white Tara Jarmon top she first wore for her Point de Vue interview and her Christine Hvelplund necklace.
We’ll next see Prince Joachim and Princess Marie on Friday when they visit a festival for their charities in Bornholm.
Today, Prince Nikolai, the eldest son of Prince Joachim and Countess Alexandra, turned 18th.
Tonight, Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik offered a dinner on the Danneborg, the Royal Family’s boat.
You can see a video of the arrival here:
Prince Nikolai arrived with his parents, Prince Joachim and Countess Alexandra, his step-mother Princess Marie and his siblings Prince Felix, Prince Henrik and Princess Athena.
Princess Mary and her children, Princes Christian and Vincent and Princesses Isabella and Josephine were also there. Crown Prince Frederik, Prince Nikolai’s godfather, wasn’t there because he had to attend an IOC meeting in South Korea.
For this family dinner, Princess Marie wore a new Erdem dress with her Christian Dior shoes first worn in 2014.
She wore her favorite Christine Hvelplund ring with old Christine Hvelplund earrings. I believe she was also carrying her old Jimmy Choo clutch from 2014.
On Wednesday, Princess Marie unveiled her new portrait made by Mikael Melbye at the artist’s home. Prince Joachim was with her. The couple just got back from a couple of days of holiday in St Tropez, France. They will soon go to Cayx, in France, with their kids.
In this portrait, Marie is wearing an UFO top first worn in 2016 with her diamond earrings. She is also wearing her engagement ring as well as her custom made Christine Hvelplund ‘H’ and ‘A’ necklace. I really love this portrait as it looks just like Marie and the details are amazing!
Her shoes are by Gianvito Rossi first worn in 2016 and she wore her favorite Christine Hvelplund ring.
Today is Princess Athena’s 5th birthday! Princess Athena is Prince Joachim and Princess Marie’s second child. She has three older brothers, Princes Nikolai, Felix and Henrik. Kongehuset released three photos taken by Princess Marie.
Today was also the start of the State Visit from Iceland to Denmark that will end on the 26th. Usually , the entire royal family welcomes the Presidential couple at the airport but the President and First Lady of Iceland arrived in Copenhagen last night so they were officially welcomed to Denmark by Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik at Amalienborg Palace at 10:00.
The couple then met with Denmark’s Prime Minister at Christianborg Palace. In the afternoon, the Royal couple and the Presidential couple attended events in the Palace. Tomorrow, the Presidential couple will spend the day with Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary.
We will see Marie at two events related to the state visits, as usual. The first is tonight’s gala dinner and the second is the farewell reception tomorrow. For tonight’s gala dinner, she wore a new black dress with her old UFO velvet clutch and her old black pumps.
The new gown was custom by Danish designer Ole Yde. The brand thought “she looked radiant in it”. This is the fourth Ole Yde gown worn by Princess Marie since 2013. She also wore her wedding tiara with her Christine Hvelplund earrings and a new Christine Hvelplund bracelet.
